Brenda Yaskal was born and raised in Madison, graduating from Madison West High School and earning a Bachelor of Arts from UW-Madison. Brenda spent seven years working with at-risk youth in the Madison area before attending law school at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Brenda graduated cum laude (with honors) from Marquette Law School and began working in the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office.

In the 10 years that Brenda worked in the Columbia County DA’s office, she handled all kinds of criminal cases from traffic tickets and Disorderly Conduct to Sexual Assault and Homicide. However, Brenda grew to specialize in prosecuting crimes against children. As a mother, she was proud to work to protect children from abuse and neglect.

Brenda’s older son, Joseph, is currently attending Robert Morris University in Chicago where he is studying computer networking and playing in the marching band. Her younger son, Benjamin, attends Portage High School where he also plays in the marching band. Both of her sons were in Cub Scouts and Brenda was lucky to spend many years as Ben’s den leader and one year as Joe’s den leader.

In 2016, Brenda began working in the Sauk County Office of the Corporation Counsel. Brenda has been able to continue her work protecting children from abuse and neglect, although in a different capacity, and has also expanded her practice to include protecting vulnerable, at-risk adults. In addition, since 2012, Brenda has taught at Madison College, most recently teaching Legal Writing in the Paralegal program.
